Schengen calculator
Visitors can spend 90 days in any 180 in the Schengen area. Add your stays to see how many days you've used, how long you can stay and when you can come back.
Your stays in the Schengen area
How the 90/180 rule works
- On any day, look back 180 days, that day included. You can have been in the Schengen area for at most 90 of them.
- The day you arrive and the day you leave both count as days in the area, however late or early you cross.
- The countries count as one area: a week in France and a week in Italy are 14 days.
- The window moves every day, so old days drop out as new ones are added. That's why the calculator shows when your next full 90 days start.
- It applies to visitors who aren't citizens of the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland, with or without a short-stay visa. A long-stay visa or residence permit has its own rules.
The EU's Entry/Exit System, rolled out from October 2025, records each entry and exit at the border, so your days are counted for you there too. Your dates in this calculator stay in this browser; nothing is sent anywhere.

Before you rely on it
The calculator is a guide. A border officer has the final say, and some nationalities have agreements that allow more days in particular countries. The European Commission's short-stay calculator is the official one.
